Get accurate prayer times for any location worldwide. Free Islamic prayer times calculator for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha.

What is Prayer Times?

Islamic prayer times are determined by the position of the sun in the sky. Muslims perform five daily prayers at specific times: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). These times change daily and vary by geographic location.

Accurate prayer times are essential for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligations. This calculator uses the Aladhan API, which follows internationally recognized calculation methods used by Islamic authorities worldwide.

Formula

Prayer times are calculated based on solar position:
Fajr: When sun is 18° below horizon (or 15°)
Sunrise: When top of sun appears on horizon
Dhuhr: When sun passes its highest point (zenith)
Asr: When shadow equals object length (or double)
Maghrib: Immediately after sunset
Isha: When sun is 17° below horizon (or 18°)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do prayer times change every day?
Prayer times are based on the sun's position, which changes daily due to Earth's orbit and axial tilt. This causes variations in day length and solar angles throughout the year.
What calculation method should I use?
Different Islamic authorities use slightly different angles for Fajr and Isha. The Muslim World League (method 3) and Umm al-Qura (method 4) are commonly used. Choose the method followed by your local mosque.
How accurate are these prayer times?
Prayer times are calculated to the minute. For maximum accuracy, add a 2-3 minute safety margin before Fajr and after Maghrib to ensure you're praying within the correct time window.
