Rafter length factor = √(rise² + run²) ÷ run
Sloped rafter length = half-width × rafter length factor
Gable roof area = 2 × effective length × sloped rafter length
Effective length = building length + 2 × overhang
Effective width = building width + 2 × overhang
Roof squares = roof area ÷ 100
